Rey Mysterio Suspended as AAA General Manager in Storyline

Summary: On the Nov. 7 AAA Heroes Inmortales show, Dorian Roldan announced that Rey Mysterio is suspended indefinitely as AAA General Manager. It is a storyline. The show was taped Oct. 24, per POST Wrestling.

The quick version

  • Dorian Roldan announced that Rey Mysterio is suspended indefinitely as AAA General Manager, at the end of Heroes Inmortales Week 3 on Saturday, Nov. 7.
  • It is a scripted angle. F4W Online calls it a suspension "in storyline." POST Wrestling says the episode was taped Oct. 24 in Mexico City.
  • WWE has not said anything about Mysterio's Survivor Series role, and we found nothing linking the two.

Rey Mysterio was suspended indefinitely as AAA General Manager on Saturday's AAA Heroes Inmortales, in a scripted segment that closed the third week of the special. Dorian Roldan, the son of AAA matriarch Marisela Peña, made the announcement in the ring while his mother was being inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame.

What happened on the show

Mysterio had been chosen to induct Peña, per POST Wrestling, and gave a speech crediting her with protecting AAA's legacy. As Peña began her acceptance speech, Roldan came to the ring and said he had a ruling about Mysterio's conduct as general manager. He cited three complaints, per POST Wrestling, Cageside Seats and F4W Online:

  • Mysterio sent AAA wrestlers into unsafe working conditions in the United States, which Roldan blamed for injuries to El Hijo del Vikingo and Mini Vikingo.
  • Mysterio hit Omos at Ola de Calor on Aug. 30 while Omos was attending as a fan.
  • Mysterio overstepped his authority at TripleMania 34, where he acted as referee in the AAA Mega Championship match between Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano, and again at Heroes Inmortales, where he hit Dominik with a chair, per Cageside Seats.

Roldan said the decision came from a higher authority and that Mysterio is suspended indefinitely. AAA posted the suspension on its X account, per F4W Online. Roldan ended the segment with a further personal accusation against Mysterio and Peña. The outlets treat it as part of the angle, and we are not repeating it.

Why it is a storyline

POST Wrestling says the episode was taped Oct. 24 at Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera. Cageside Seats describes the segment as a telenovela. F4W Online's headline says "in storyline." None of the reports we read suggests a real-world suspension or a change in Mysterio's role with WWE.

What it means for Survivor Series

Mysterio announced on Nov. 6 on Stephanie McMahon's podcast that he would lead Team Mexico against Team USA at Survivor Series on Saturday, Nov. 28, in Houston. See our earlier story. Cody Rhodes asked on Nov. 7 to lead Team USA. See that story. The AAA angle suspends Mysterio from his AAA job only. No outlet says it affects the WWE match. We did not contact WWE or AAA.

What to watch

Whether AAA names an interim general manager, and whether Mysterio appears on AAA's Nov. 29 live tour date in Odessa, Texas, per WWE's schedule as listed by Sacnilk.
