This is a rumor and it is not confirmed. Dave Meltzer reportedly said the Nov. 6 SmackDown angle looks like the start of a women's WarGames match at Survivor Series on Saturday, Nov. 28, in Houston. WWE has not announced the match or any teams.

The quick version

  • Not confirmed by WWE.
  • Reliability: Single source, not confirmed. Meltzer is the origin; eWrestlingNews and Ringside News relayed his comments. Other outlets describe the same on-air segment.
  • WWE has not said which women are in, or whether the match is five-on-five.

What is being reported

Ringside News and eWrestlingNews quote Meltzer from the Nov. 2 Wrestling Observer Radio, discussing the SmackDown taped that night in Brooklyn. He said the Women's Tag Team Championship segment, which ended in a brawl, "looks like the framework" of the women's WarGames match. Both outlets say he named Jade Cargill, B-Fab, Michin and Fatal Influence against Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss. He said someone would have to be added to make it five on five. Ringside News says he made clear the exact teams are not set.

What aired

The segment ran on the Nov. 6 SmackDown, per Wrestling Inc and WWE.com in our SmackDown results. Bliss and Paxley attacked the match, Bayley arrived, and Flair returned and fought Cargill. Backstage, Flair said, "If they want to go to war, let's go to war," per Wrestling Headlines.

WrestleTalk goes further than Meltzer. It says the challenge was "officially made" and that Fatal Influence is aligned with Cargill's side while Bayley joins the other, leaving one babyface spot open. That is WrestleTalk's reading of the segment, not a WWE announcement. Wrestling World says plainly that WWE has not officially announced the match. Gerweck.net's headline says four women "declared" for it, which is its description of the segment. We found no announcement on WWE.com.

What does not add up yet

If every member of Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid, per recent live-event results) counts, the Cargill side has six names, which is more than five. The babyface side is Bayley, Flair, Bliss and Paxley, one short. Either the sides will change or the format is not five-on-five. WWE has said nothing on either point.

What would confirm or kill it

A WWE announcement of the match, or a lineup, would confirm it. A different Survivor Series card with no women's WarGames would kill it. Survivor Series: WarGames is Nov. 28 at Daikin Park in Houston, per our earlier reports. Rey Mysterio's Team USA vs. Team Mexico match is also planned for that show. See our Mysterio story.
