Haas and Titus O'Neil Named to 2027 Thesz Hall of Fame

The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame announced its 2027 honorees on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Charlie Haas gets the Hall of Fame award, and Titus O'Neil, Al Snow, Rick Martel and Lance Russell take the four named awards.

Fightful reported it first among the outlets we checked, on Nov. 3. POST Wrestling followed on Nov. 4 and linked the Hall's own announcement on Facebook. PWInsider's headline calls them the "first 2027 inductees," so more names may follow.

The five honorees

• Hall of Fame: Charlie Haas. The Hall's note, as Fightful quoted it, reads "Technical brilliance. Amateur pedigree. Excellence in the ring."
• Lou Thesz Award: Rick Martel, for style, skill and star power.
• Verne Gagne Trainer Award: Al Snow, a respected teacher who helped shape generations of talent, per Fightful.
• Frank Gotch Award: Titus O'Neil, for leadership, philanthropy and impact beyond wrestling.
• Gordon Solie Award: Lance Russell, for broadcasting excellence.

Who they are

POST says the main award goes to a wrestler with success in both amateur and professional wrestling. Haas wrestled at Seton Hall University on a scholarship in the 1990s, then worked in WWE and ROH. POST says the Gotch Award goes to someone who "brought positive recognition to the industry."

Fightful says O'Neil was moved to WWE's alumni section in September. He last wrestled in 2020, had been a WWE global ambassador, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020, per Fightful. POST describes the Gagne award as a newer honor for a prominent trainer, and the Thesz Award as one for wrestlers who used their skills in public service.

What is not known

• The reports we read do not give the date of the 2027 induction weekend.
• The Hall has not said, in anything we found, whether more inductees will be added.
• We did not find a statement from any honoree.

POST places the Hall at the Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa.
