This is a rumor and it is not confirmed. PWInsider reports that WWE will produce a major part of Saturday's Crown Jewel broadcast from its headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and send fewer staff than usual to Riyadh.

The quick version

  • Not confirmed by WWE.
  • Reliability: Single source, not confirmed. PWInsider's Mike Johnson is the origin; Fightful, F4W Online and Cageside Seats relayed it.
  • The report says production and satellite trucks will sit at WWE HQ, with a "sizeable" crew on site for cameras, sound and equipment.

What is being reported

Fightful's account of the PWInsider report, posted Nov. 5, says a major part of the Crown Jewel broadcast will be "remotely engineered" from Stamford. It says production and satellite trucks will be stationed at HQ, and that the on-site staff will set up cameras, sound and other equipment and send the feeds back to the U.S. The people in Stamford would then produce the show "as if they were actually there," per Fightful's summary.

F4W Online (Josh Nason) says the plan is a "sizable production crew" in Riyadh running cameras and sound, "albeit with a smaller crew than usual." We could not read the PWInsider original, which is behind a login.

What no outlet says

None of the reports we read gives a reason from WWE for the setup. F4W links it to travel concerns tied to unrest in the region, but that is F4W's framing, not something PWInsider is quoted as saying. WWE has not commented in the reports we read.

What we know for certain

  • Crown Jewel is Saturday, Nov. 7, at ANB Arena in Riyadh, per Fightful. See our card story.
  • TKO President Mark Shapiro said on the Nov. 4 earnings call that the risk to Saudi events is "extremely minimal," per F4W Online. See our Shapiro story.
  • A separate report, also unconfirmed, says WWE offered crew $3,000 in hazard pay to travel. See our hazard pay story.

What would confirm or kill it

A WWE statement, or broadcast credits and on-air details from the show itself, would settle it. We will update this story after Crown Jewel.
