Athena will defend the ROH Women's World Championship against Hyan at Ring of Honor Final Battle on Friday, Dec. 4, in San Antonio, Texas. ROH posted the match on its X account on Nov. 6, and F4W Online (Josh Nason) reported it the same day. We did not see a statement from either wrestler beyond the ROH post.
How the match was set
On the Nov. 5 ROH TV, Athena said she wants Hyan to join her group, Minions in Training, alongside Diamante and Billie Starkz. F4W says she told Hyan the match is her initiation and that the title is on the line. F4W also says she booked Starkz and Diamante against Hyan and Maya World in the weeks ahead.
ROH's post reads, in part: "puts @DiamanteLAX & @BillieStarkz on notice, says @_thehyan can bring new life to M.I.T., and challenges Hyan at #ROHFinalBattle as her initiation!"
The numbers
- F4W says Athena's reign is ROH's longest ever, at more than 1,400 days, with nearly 40 title defenses.
- F4W says the two have met twice before in singles, in 2023 and 2026. It says both were Proving Ground matches for Athena's title, and Hyan lost both.
- F4W says Hyan has wrestled sparingly in ROH singles in recent months. It lists consecutive singles wins over Lacey Lane and Starkz.
