Taya Valkyrie is leaving AEW. She announced it on X on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in a post that said "Thank you AEW" and included a longer statement. She says she turned down a contract extension and is now a free agent.
What she said
"I am incredibly grateful for my time with AEW and the opportunity to be part of the organization," Valkyrie said in the statement. She described the move as "a new chapter as a free agent" and said she is looking at opportunities as a wrestler, TV personality and creative. Wrestling Inc. noted she had nothing negative to say about the company.
Her AEW run
Valkyrie debuted in AEW in March 2023 as a rival for then TBS Champion Jade Cargill, Wrestling Inc. reported. She was more closely tied to Ring of Honor after that, working with her husband Johnny TV and appearing with MxM Collection, according to Wrestling Inc. and POST Wrestling.
She had been away from both AEW and ROH for most of 2026, Wrestling Inc. said, after taking part in the reality series The Traitors: Canada.
Outside AEW, she is a former AAA Reina de Reinas Champion and a former TNA Knockouts Champion, POST Wrestling reported.
What is not known
Her statement does not say where she will wrestle next, and neither report we read says AEW has responded. We have not seen a statement from AEW.
