WWE SummerSlam: Braun Strowman vs. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt For Universal Title

Falls Count Anywhere Match for the WWE Universal Championship
– Braun Strowman (c) vs. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

Roll the Firefly FunHouse graphic that aired prior to The Fiend’s entrance.

The start:

Braun Strowman goes right at The Fiend but he laughs hysterically. He backs his opponent down and hits a Rock Bottom. He locks in a head lock, with Michael Cole teasing he is trying to rip his head off.

Mid-match notes:

Strowman on the outside, here comes The Fiend. He looks under the ring and grabs a toolbox. He rams it right to the gut of Strowman and hits him in the spine with it. He laughs sadistically. The toolbox is opened up as The Fiend clears off the announce team. Strowman fights back with right hands and a headbutt. He plows right through Wyatt and the barricade. Wyatt right back up with right hands, Strowman chokeslams Wyatt on the announce deck. The table buckles. Strowman is living up to his promise to bring hell to WWE.

Strowman kicks The Fiend to the midsection but Wyatt fights back. Strowman picks up the ring steps and hits him with them. Finally, The Fiend is on the ground. Strowman rolls him back into the ring. Cole reminds us that falls count anywhere. Strowman connects on a splash in the corner. He hits a running powerslam and gets a nearfall.

Strowman questions what he has to do, with a look of disbelief on his face. Strowman throws Wyatt face first into the barricade. He continues to assault The Fiend up the ramp. Strowman bangs Wyatt’s head off the screen. They go to the backstage area. Wyatt throws Strowman into the walls coast to coast. Wyatt connects on Sister Abigail. The Monster kicks out at two.

Wyatt gauges at Strowman’s eyes. They come back down the entrance way with Wyatt throwing Strowman off the screen so hard it goes black. Wyatt connects on a kick as Corey Graves says this is unfamiliar territory even for Strowman. Strowman is bleeding from his bald head. He sells hard on the outside. Wyatt stalks his opponent and goes for the Mandible Claw. Strowman tries to block it and gets to his feet. He pushes Wyatt into the side of the ring.

The Champion clubs The Fiend across the chest and covers him on the outside for a near fall. Strowman rolls Wyatt back into the ring. He lifts him up as he goes for a second running powerslam, he connects and gets a two count. Strowman follows with hammer fists to the face of the Challenger. Strowman gets out of the ring and grabs a box cutter. He gets into the ring with it and exposes the blade.

Strowman is slicing up the mat! He pulls back the canvas, exposing the wood inside the ring. I’ve never seen anything like this as he’s literally deconstructing the WWE ring.

The finish:

The Fiend recovers and hits a Rock Bottom and hits a Sister Abigail. He hits another face-first one on the exposed wood. He covers Strowman for the pinfall victory.

Winner & NEW WWE Universal Champion, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

Roman Reigns makes a shocking return and beats up on the new WWE Universal Champion after hitting a spear. Reigns gets out of the ring and spears Strowman. Reigns furiously yells at Strowman. He grabs a chair from the timekeeper’s table and assaults Strowman.

Roman is going to town with the chair on the fallen body of Braun Strowman. Reigns gets back in the ring with The Fiend down in the ring. Another huge spear on Wyatt, taking him back down to the mat. An emphatic statement by The Big Dog Roman Reigns. Reigns picks up the Universal Championship title belt and says it’s always been mine. He lifts it up as the show fades.
