WWE announced Friday evening that Zelina Vega has been released.

It’s worth noting that WWE posted the news on social media ten minutes after Vega tweeted, “I support unionization.”

it remains to be seen if Vega requested her release or if WWE took a firm stance in the matter regarding WWE’s independent contractor status and the freedom (or now lack thereof) to make profits off of streaming on third party platforms.
Vega officially signed with WWE in 2017 and eventually became the manager for Andrade in NXT. The duo was called up to the main roster in 2018, where Vega would occasionally perform in mixed tag team matches. She was recently drafted to SmackDown to be utilized as a singles star in the women’s division. Vega is also the real-life wife of Aleister Black.
