Is it true much of the promo work between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns has been a shoot?
Jey Uso and Roman Reigns have been able to use real life elements in their program that cannot possibly written by the WWE creative time. It is why the program has gotten over and been so entertaining. WWE and AEW have different philosophies in booking promos. WWE scripts their stuff and AEW does bullet points. We can argue all day about which is better but truthfully, the best wrestling angles are those that blur the lines between what is real and what is not. How that is accomplished is largely irreverent. Reigns vs. Uso has been engaging because it comes off as real. WWE needs more of that.
Lars Sullivan is slated for a push on SmackDown, while apparently Elias is slated for a push on Raw. Why are these the workers that get pushed over so many other high work rate wrestlers such as Ricochet
Two words – Vince McMahon. Vince decides who gets pushed and when and Sullivan and Elias are two of his current favorites. In his defense, fans are always going to want the high work rate talent pushed but as most know, that is not how you get over with Vince McMahon.
What was the thinking on pairing Jordan Omogbehin with AJ Styles?
Jordan Omogbehin was not going anywhere on his own and WWE wanted to spice up AJ Styles as a heel on Raw. So they paired the two together. No, Styles does not need a bodyguard but yes it adds a layer of intrigue.
What is the latest on Pat McAfee’s status in WWE?
Pat McAfee is back following his terrific match against Adam Cole. He is aligned with Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan and it will be interesting to see where this goes. I have not heard of McAfee’s agreement with the company but many are high up on him. Not only that he provides them with cross-over media attention due to his podcast but they like his charisma and believe it or not, his ring work. We will see if they plan for him to wrestle again.
