WWE Monday Night Raw Results (7/27/20) – Asuka vs. Sasha Banks

Welcome to our live coverage of tonight’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw on the USA Network. Please read our preview of the broadcast. We will see Randy Orton announce his next target, Dominik Mysterio confront Seth Rollins and several matches.

WWE Monday Night Raw Results – 7/27/2020

Randy Orton opens the show in the week. The Apex Predator, the Viper, the Legend Killer, he has been called a lot of things during his 20 years in WWE. He has been a part of some of the biggest groups. Neither Steve Austin nor The Rock match his accomplishments or longevity. He shifted towards Drew McIntyre, saying 10 years ago he had his head stuck so far up his own ass he got himself fired. Drew has his respect because he beat Brock Lesnar in quick fashion at WrestleMania. Orton said Drew has a problem, he has something he wants. He wants a WWE World Championship match at SummerSlam.

Nia Jax returns and cuts a promo. Shayna Baszler came out and said nobody cares what you want and a brawl ensued.

WWE Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits cut a promo. They are going to announce all of the teams that will be squaring off tonight for a chance to face them for the titles at SummerSlam. The Viking Raiders are out first, followed by Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. Andrade and Angel Garza are the final team to ringside.

Andrade & Angel Garza w/Zelina Vega vs. The Viking Raiders vs. Cedric Alexander & Ricochet with the winners challenging The Street Profits for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam. The Street Profits join the trio on announce. Andrade and Angel were hanging outside of the ring and were attacked by the other two tag teams. Ricochet gets doubled team in the ring by Andrade and Garza and then by The Viking Raiders. Erik is taken out by Ricochet and Andrade as teams keep changing out to fight whoever has the advantage. Ivar comes in and cleans house, hitting the Love Splash on Ricochet. Garza gets in and lands a superkick. Erik back in to the defense. There was a high spot from Ivar but Garza is about to pin Cedric Alexander to get the victory. Winners and new No. 1 contenders for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship, Andrade and Angel Garza

Nia Jax vs. Shayna Baszler was thrown out by double count out. The two women were going crazy on one another in and outside of the ring. Help came from the back and were attacked as well.

Seth Rollins comes out and delivers a promo with Murphy in the ring.

Dominick Mysterio came out and Rollins invited him into the ring. Murphy even lowered the ring ropes for him. Rollins told Dominick he was there for him if he couldn’t articulate the way he feels. Mysterio attacked Rollins but Murphy intervened. Dominick fought him off but Rollins got the better of him. They double teamed Dominick and Aleister Black ran out. Murphy fought him off and he ended up getting a Stomp at the ring steps. Rollins chewed Murphy out prior. Meanwhile, Dom recovered and hit Black with a kendo stick and went after Rollins.

Backstage, R-Truth talked to Mustafa Ali and asked if he is going after the WWE 24/7 Championship.

MVP is in the ring with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin for MVP’s VIP Lounge. He announced Mustafa Ali as his guest. Ali came out and said he is just happy to have the chance to be back on Raw with a chance to become a real champion. MVP said he wanted to help Ali, with Ali acting like he was considering it. R-Truth ran out and went for Benjamin. He made the cover and got a two count. The heels surrounded Truth, who escaped.

Mustafa Ali vs. Bobby Lashley. Lashley absolutely dominated, showing off his superior strength. During the match, Tozawa tried to pin Shelton Benjamin for the WWE 24/7 Championship. Benjamin took him out and then a ninja at ringside. Lashley came out to help. Ali attempted a high spot but Lashley shoved him off the ring apron. He took the fight to the outside and threw Ali face first into the barricade. Lashley hit the Flatliner like it was nothing but Mustafa Ali kicked out. In a counter, Ali landed a rolling DDT. He went upstairs but Lashley made him tap out in the full nelson. Winner by submission, Bobby Lashley

Backstage, Dolph Ziggler is asked about the stipulation for his match tonight against Drew McIntyre. He doesn’t know but Randy Orton is going to have to wait because Dolph Ziggler is going to SummerSlam.

Asuka w/Kairi Sane vs. Sasha Banks w/Bayley for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Banks and Bayley came out first and cut a promo about winning all the titles and accomplishing all of their goals. Asuka came out last and Sane ran Bayley to the backstage area. After a commercial, the formal in-ring introductions took place. This was started even but Asuka locked in an armbar. Sasha got to the ropes and Asuka broke immediately.

At one point, Sasha Banks left the ring and threatened to leave due to disrespect. The referee continued his count. Banks got back in the ring and tried to hit Asuka with the title belt. She dropped it when the referee saw it. She ended up walking into a strong boot from the champion.

Sasha worked the left leg of Asuka hard. It got to the point where it look like Asuka might tap in a single-leg Boston Crab. Asuka finally countered with an elbow. She connected a knee-bar and even got a one count. Sasha went off the top but Asuka got her knees up. The fight continued when both women recovered. There was a nice headbutt from Sasha onto the champion followed by a frogsplash off the top rope. She went for the Banks statement but Asuka got out and went for the Asuka lock. The fight went to the outside.

Back in the ring, Sasha was trying everything to put Asuka away. She stood over her opponent and shouted she was the Raw Women’s Champion. Asuka landed some offense. Banks statement in a counter. Asuka goes off the top and lands a dropkick. On the big screen, we see Bayley working over Kairi Sane in the backstage area. Asuka can’t focus on the match because she’s worried about her best friend. Asuka leaves the ring to help her. The referee starts the count out. Banks is out in the ring. Winner and NEW WWE Raw Women’s Champion by countout, Sasha Banks

Backstage, Bayley and Banks celebrate, while Asuka is hysterical.

WWE aired a tribute to Regis Philbin.

Humberto Carrillo vs. Murphy. Murphy went over after hitting Murphy’s law.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre came out and accepted Randy Orton’s challenge for a title match at SummerSlam. He told him not to underestimate him because that’s what Brock Lesnar did and he got his ass kicked.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler in an Extreme Rules match. McIntyre beat Ziggler with a kendo stick after a Russian leg sweep. He picked Ziggler up, put him in the ring and started throwing chairs in after him. McIntyre is looking to avenge what Dolph did to him at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules.

At one point McIntyre grabbed Ziggler and slammed him through the barricade. Ziggler countered and hit the Fameasser. The action was in the ring as Ziggler climbed to the top rope. McIntyre recovered because Dolph took too long. McIntyre superplexed Ziggler off the top rope. Out of nowhere, Ziggler hit the ZigZag and got a two count. McIntyre was able to hit the Claymore kick on Ziggler through a table, which he followed with a pinfall. Winner, Drew McIntyre

After the match, Orton came out and delivered the RKO out of nowhere. He stood over McIntyre and put the title belt around his waist and raised it up as the show went off the air.

News from Raw:

– Randy Orton has officially challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. McIntyre accepted later in the show.

– The Street Profits will defend the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship against Andrade and Angel Garza w/Zelina Vega.

– Sasha Banks is the new WWE Raw Women’s Champion, while Kairi Sane was written off TV in a backstage attack segment with Bayley.
