Storyline Developments & Promo Highlights:
- Triple H and Stephanie McMahon opened the show in the ring with the majority of the SmackDown roster on the stage. They welcomed viewers to the season premiere and ran through announced matches and segments.
- The New Day cut a promo about the end of their run together. Xavier Woods was emotional talking about this being the best six years of his life. He put over Big E and Kofi Kingston for “taking a chance on him.” Kofi talked about questioning if he still wanted to wrestle when he was approached by Woods and Big E to do something special. Woods said they were there to get it done one last time. Big E led a “New Day rocks” chant.
- Kayla Braxton interviewed Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro about facing The New Day in their final match together. Sheamus talked up giving them the sendoff they deserve. Cesaro vowed to ruin their final moments together. Nakamura said it was not just for now but goodbye to New Day forever.
- Kayla Braxton interviewed Otis. Sami Zayn interrupted and mocked him for losing both Mandy Rose and Tucker to Raw. Otis retaliated by shoving Zayn to the ground.
- Daniel Bryan made his return and put over the ThunderDome. Brie Bella and their daughter were shown as virtual audience members. Seth Rollins came out and said he was glad his wife let him off Daddy Duty so he could come to the ThunderDome. He hyped being the Savior of SmackDown and Bryan is either with him or against him. Bryan called Rollins self-indulgent and self-centered. They eventually brawled. Rey and Dominik Mysterio came out and backed Rollins down. Rollins turned to Bryan for help but he left him. Murphy came out and attacked him. Murphy attempted to shake the hands of the Mysterios but they declined.
- Bayley and Sasha Banks had a contract signing segment with producer Adam Pearce as moderator. Banks signed immediately and said she had been waiting on this moment for a long time. Bayley said she has too because she wants to rid herself o Banks and continue her championship reign. They argued and Banks shoved the contract towards Bayley. She didn’t sign and Corey Graves said the match is not official until she signs the contract.
