WWE Fans Don’t Want Outsiders, Riddle Suing His Accuser, AEW Additions, Favorite Weekly Show

When is Vince McMahon going to learn people DO NOT want to see boxers, MMA fighters or celebrities in the ring?

Vince McMahon is always going to look to involve well known athletes and celebrities in WWE. Not all will get matches but some, such as Tyson Fury, will. I understand why a lot of pro wrestling fans hate this but I do not see it changing, even when Triple H takes over. Just take a look at Pat McAfee coming in to work Adam Cole. People have to understand WWE is looking to capture a mainstream audience; not just a professional wrestling audience. To have a broader reach, you have to go out and get people who have audiences outside of your normal. It will forever be debated but it is done to increase interest and to get the mainstream media talking about WWE.

Every week it seems AEW continues to add to their roster. Do you think that’s a smart move in the middle of a pandemic?

AEW continues to acquire talent they feel can contribute to the promotion. While the terms of the deals are not announced with the signings, there is enough money in the Khan family to support any talent they want. Of course there is a budget and they are committed to turning a profit, but the moves are seen as an investment into their product. I think it’s smart as long as the talent are able to add value to the promotion.

Is it a bad look for Matt Riddle, an up and coming WWE Superstar, to file a lawsuit against his sexual assault accuser?

We get a lot of questions just like this one in regards to Matt Riddle. The fact of the matter is he was accused of sexual assault, an investigation took place and he was cleared. Apparently the claims are still being made so he is making moves to protect his reputation. Sexual assault is something that should never be taken lightly. Any time a claim is made, it should be taken serious and investigated. I am not going to get into the middle of he’s right and she is lying or she’s right and he is lying. I wasn’t there, I have no clue what happened. It is not up for me to decide or judge anything. I can tell you WWE is comfortable following their investigation, which is why he remains a prominent Superstar on SmackDown.

What is your favorite weekly professional wrestling show to watch?

Most fans would probably say NXT or AEW Dynamite and while I cannot watch those shows live due to my work schedule, I do watch them and often walk away choosing one of them as my favorite each week. However, if I had to pick a show I consistently find myself calling my favorite – it’s SmackDown. There have been very few shows of the blue brand over the past six months I have considered awful. Most of them give me something where I end up being glad I watched. By far and away my least favorite is Raw. It’s so hard to watch three hours each week. There is not a single week I don’t walk away feeling exhausted with it. That third hour is just a drain when there is so much “filler” content. I could see someone saying – what about pay-per-views? PPVs are much different because they are made up of matches that have received build. It’s much easier to watch when things are flowing well and you’re seeing the payoff to programs you have been following. But just like everything else, there is a limit. And that’s why I believe WWE has done the right thing by shortening the length of pay-per-views and are not longer running marathons each time out.
