Through a brief statement on WWE.com, the company announced on Thursday that Bruce Prichard will now oversee both the Raw and SmackDown creative teams.
Below is the official statement:
“In an effort to streamline our creative writing process for television, we have consolidated both teams from Raw and SmackDown into one group, led by Bruce Prichard. Paul Heyman will concentrate on his role as an in-ring performer.”
Paul Heyman has served as the Executive Director of Monday Night Raw since last summer before the brand split was reinforced. Eric Bischoff was originally named Exective Director of SmackDown on FOX before WWE moved in a different direction with Prichard in charge.
There’s no yet on why WWE has opted to end Heyman’s executive role. Many fans were pleased with the way certain stars on Raw were pushed in recent months with the likes of Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black, Apollo Crews, Buddy Murphy, and several others receiving more in-ring time.
