UFC Legend Daniel Cormier Announces Retirement

UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier announced his retirement from Mixed Martial Arts following his loss to Stipe Miocic in their trilogy bout at UFC 252 on Saturday night.

“You know Joe, I’m not interested in fighting for anything but titles and I don’t imagine there is going to be a title in the future so that’ll be it for me,” Cormier said in a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. “You know, I’ve had a long run, it’s been great. I just fought my last fight for the heavyweight championship. It was a pretty good fight.”

Cormier lost by unanimous decision (49–46, 48–46, 48–47), which was his second consecutive loss to Miocic in less than one year. He knocked out Miocic in their first fight at UFC 226 in 2018.

As seen in the video above, Cormier was poked in the left eye during the fight and fought the championship rounds without being able to see out of it.
