Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods returned to Smackdown this week after a long time. Following their return, they got a shot at the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.
Xavier Woods had not competed in the ring since October 2019, as he had a torn Achilles during a house show. Kofi Kingston was also out of action since Extreme Rules back in July. The two faced the team of Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for the tag team titles.
It was a fast-paced match with multiple near falls, so fans were certainly entertained. Ultimately, it was the New Day who were the victors. They became the new Smackdown Tag Team Champions.
However, Stephanie McMahon then announced that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods had been drafted to RAW, while Big E will stay in Smackdown. The New Day effectively split up with this decision.
