> Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio said this week on Stephanie McMahon's podcast that Survivor Series on Saturday, Nov. 28, in Houston will include a classic five-on-five Team USA vs. Team Mexico match. No team members are named.

## The quick version

- Rey Mysterio said on "What's Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon" that WWE will hold a classic five-on-five Survivor Series match, Team USA vs. Team Mexico.
- Survivor Series: WarGames is Saturday, Nov. 28, at Daikin Park in Houston.
- Mysterio did not name either team and would not say whether he will wrestle in it.

Rey Mysterio announced a traditional five-on-five Survivor Series elimination match, Team USA vs. Team Mexico, for this year's Survivor Series, according to Fightful. He made the announcement while a guest on "What's Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon." We have not seen a separate WWE announcement, so the match is confirmed by Mysterio's own words and not yet by a WWE card.

## What he said

Fightful transcribed him this way: "I had a couple of words with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, and we are going to put together something very special: A classic five vs. five Survivor Series match at Survivor Series where it will be Team USA vs. Team Mexico." Other outlets transcribed small differences in wording, so we are quoting Fightful's version. Fightful reports he would not say whether he will compete, because things are still being worked out.

Mysterio also tied the idea to the rise of lucha libre and to AAA, the Mexican promotion WWE now owns, where he is general manager.

## What is not known

- Who is on either team.
- Whether the teams are men's, women's or mixed.
- Whether WWE will run it alongside WarGames matches. Survivor Series: WarGames is Saturday, Nov. 28, at Daikin Park in Houston, per Fightful. See our report on a possible [men's WarGames direction](https://wrestlingnews.com/story/rumor-bloodline-vs-946-men-wargames-survivor-series/), which is unconfirmed.

## What to watch

WWE's own announcement, and the first names. WWE's Pearce and Aldis lead Raw and SmackDown, so the teams are likely to be drawn from the weekly shows and AAA. That is our reading and not something Mysterio said.

**How we know.** Source: Fightful's transcript of Mysterio's comments, checked against Ringside News, Cultaholic and NoDQ. We did not hear the podcast ourselves and could not read WWE's own site for an announcement.
