Shaquille O’Neal wants a match in All Elite Wrestling against Cody.
“I’d love to fight Cody,” O’Neal told The Athletic h/t Pro Wrestling Sheet. “Write it. Print it. Text it to him. Call AEW up and tell them.”
As reported earlier here at WrestlingNews.com, O’Neal signed a multi-year contract extension that will continue his work on TNT’s Inside the NBA and NBA on TNT Tuesday Night Coverage. In addition, the deal will expand O’Neal’s role throughout the WarnerMedia Portfolio. One of those expanded roles could include appearances on AEW Dynamite.
Per The Athletic, O’Neal working for AEW is in the “embryonic stage at best.”
O’Neal is a big pro wrestling fan, appearing for WCW in the 90s, with TNA Wrestling in the 2010s and competed as a surprise celebrity entry in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. O’Neal was actually scheduled to face Big Show at WrestleMania 33 but the match did not happen.
O’Neal revealed on his podcast a couple years ago the match did not happen because WWE kept changing it. It was originally scheduled to be a singles match and then a three-on-three. He claimed WWE then canceled the bout so he made other arrangements. WWE apparently called back but he told them he was not going to do it.
