Roman Reigns Says He Doesn’t Like CM Punk And Doesn’t Know Many People Who Do

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was a guest on the latest episode of Complex’s Load Management podcast that was released today. In it, Reigns gave his opinion of CM Punk that was released as a promotional teaser:

“I don’t like the guy [CM Punk], I don’t know many people who do … but I’m willing to put business first and make really good content if that’s the case,” said Reigns.

Roman’s heat with CM Punk goes back to Punk’s WWE departure in 2014. In comments after leaving the company, Punk revealed he was told to “make Roman look strong” when working against The Shield. The notion helped fuel the intense fan backlash Reigns experienced from 2015-2018, making his job as a babyface in the company harder.

The narrative was Roman had been handpicked by Vince McMahon to become the face of the company, while self-made stars such as CM Punk who had worked their way up through the ranks, were sacrificed for the next John Cena.

Regardless of backlash, Roman Reigns is firmly entrenched as one of WWE’s top stars. Now a heel, Reigns is rumored to have WrestleMania 37 options against The Rock or Brock Lesnar. A match against CM Punk is highly unlikely but obviously never something that can be ruled out.

On Sunday, Reigns beat Jey Uso to retain the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Clash of Champions.
