ROH World Champion’s Contract Expiring Soon?

Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that, according to multiple credible sources, current Ring Of Honor World Champion Matt Taven’s contract is set to expire at the end of September. Taven won the ROH World Championship on April 6th at G1 Supercard by defeating then-Champion Jay Lethal and Marty Scurll in a Threeway Ladder War. In addition to the ROH World Championship, Taven has also held the ROH World Television Championship, the ROH World Tag Team Championships (with Michael Bennett), the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships three times (all three times with Vinny Marseglia and TK O’Ryan). Taven is the fifth Triple Crown Champion and the second Grand Slam Champion in ROH history, and he won the 2013 ROH Top Prospect Tournament. Taven, who is currently booked for shows through mid-September but not ROH Death Before Dishonor on September 27th, has been with ROH since 2012.
