There was an odd finish to the WWE Raw Women’s Championship match between Asuka and Mickie James on last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.
For those that missed it, Asuka went for the Asuka Lock and Mickie was able to avoid it. Out of nowhere, the referee called for the bell and told ring announcer Mike Rome that James could no longer continue. James appeared baffled about the decision in a match that lasted under 12 minutes.
Per Bryan Alvarez, Mickie James was not injured but this was a mistake made by the referee.
There were obviously never any plans for James to win the title from Asuka. WWE teased Zelina Vega as a challenger after the match.
