Matt Riddle filed a lawsuit against his #SpeakingOut movement accuser Candy Cartwright. Now it seems she has filed a lawsuit herself against Riddle, WWE and others.
According to recent court filings, Samantha Tavel(Candy Cartwright) filed a lawsuit against Matt Riddle, WWE, Gabe Sapolsky, and EVOLVE Wrestling with the Circuit Court of Cook County Illinois.
She is asking for $10 million from each defendant. She is represented by Hale & Monico’s John Chwarynski Jr. They are seeking damages from emotional distress, punitive damages, attorney’s fees and other related expenditures.
According to the lawsuit, Matt Riddle allegedly sexually assaulted Tavel in April 2017 in the parking lot following an EVOLVE show. It was also alleged that Riddle gloated of his actions with EVOLVE’s owner Gave Sapolsky and two others from WWE who “tacitly approved” of the sexual misconduct.
It was also mentioned that Riddle allegedly forced Tavel to perform oral sex on him on May 19th, 2018. It was claimed that this was done in front of other members of the EVOLVE roster when they were on a bus, going towards a Summit, Illinois event, which was the site of EVOLVE 104.
The lawsuit also alleged that Tavel had bookings with WWE and EVOLVE around January 31st, 2020. Riddle coerced her into performing sexual acts against her well, as he allegedly threatened she would lose her bookings if she did not comply with his demand. When she refused to do as Riddle said, he allegedly told WWE and EVOLVE to stop booking her. It was also said that she had “issues with talent” in order to prevent her from getting booked for shows.
