With all of the segments between Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, acknowledging their real life friendship, is it inevitable we will see a program between the two?
There are plans to do a program pitting Sheamus against WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. It was even believed it could have happened with Sheamus costing McIntyre the title against Randy Orton on this week’s Raw. Obviously WWE went in another direction and McIntyre went over and will face Roman Reigns in the Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series. Sheamus and McIntyre are long-time friends. Sheamus was close with McIntyre’s mother who died in 2012 from cancer. They were both in the top feud in Europe before signing with WWE in 2007. They both had success in Florida Championship Wrestling and the night McIntyre won the Intercontinental Championship, Sheamus won the heavyweight title. Until now, Sheamus has been the top guy and McIntyre has been chasing. Now, McIntyre is clearly the bigger star in WWE. As to how WWE does the program remains to be seen. Will Sheamus cost McIntyre the WWE Championship sometime soon or will WWE do a slow burn? Regardless, there are plans to transition the friendly segments into a worked program.
Yesterday was The Shield’s eight year anniversary. Out of the group, who has had the best career and why?
Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley and Seth Rollins have all had extraordinary careers to date. In terms of the WWE pecking order, it was Reigns, Rollins and Moxley. In terms of world title reigns, Reigns has had five in WWE, Rollins has had four and Moxley had one and is the current AEW World Champion. That is a lot of hardware and The Shield faction certainly deserves credit for helping build these guys up. The thing is all were extremely talented prospects with Moxley and Rollins more established before ever signing with WWE. I have heard some people say Moxley is not at the same caliber as the other two but I disagree. He probably had to overcome some of the worst booking WWE, while Rollins and Reigns have had better situations (more creative freedom). Moxley as Dean Ambrose in the Attitude Era would have likely been much more successful but he was held back by some ultra corny promos. Overall, all three have had very successful careers and it’s impossible to pick the best. History will tell the story.
Will Royal Rumble have fans?
That is still to be determined. The current plan is for WWE to move television operations to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida when they leave the Amway Center. The ThunderDome will continue in the new location. Vince McMahon desperately wants live fans back in attendance but right now the COVID-19 pandemic is spiking again in the United States. The internal hope is to have fans at Royal Rumble, even if they have fans at Tropicana Field, but it is only a hope at this time. There is also hope by the spring they will be able to return to traditional live arena shows with fans. However, it remains a situation very much in flux.
Will Tyson Kidd ever receive clearance to work for WWE again?
Tyson Kidd recently went on the record about trying to get cleared for Royal Rumble 2019 and Vince McMahon gave it some serious thought before eventually turning it down. It is unlikely he ever competes in WWE again due to the spinal cord injury that has kept him out since June 1, 2015.
