AEW World Champion Chris Jericho is a major part of what the upstart promotion is trying to do. Not only is he their top star and most well-known talent on the roster, but he’s been important in the locker room as well.
Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes addressed just how valuable Jericho has been in an interview with SPORT1 in Germany.
“You don’t want to praise Chris because he’s such an asshole, but you have to give him props,” Cody said. “Every week, Chris Jericho does something that reminds me of how important he is to the company – every week! He’s a huge part of this.”
Cody “did the honors” to Jericho after losing in the co-main event at Full Gear back in November. The stipulation was since he lost, he will never challenge for the AEW World Championship again. The bout was critically acclaimed and went nearly 30 minutes.
