Cain Velasquez had an informal meeting with New Japan Pro Wrestling officials at their show in San Fransisco on Saturday night, according to Marc Raimondi.
Velasquez, who is making the transition from MMA to professional wrestling, signed on with AAA out of Mexico earlier this year. He has two matches left on his deal with them but is drawing interest from several other promotions, according to Raimondi.
Velasquez’s debut happened at Triplemanía XXVII on 8/3 when he teamed with Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown to take on Texano Jr, Taurus, and a mystery partner who turned out to be Killer Kross. Velasquez wore a luchador mask and was impressive. He submitted Texano, Jr. with a Kimura lock to get the win.
Prior to debuting with AAA, Velasquez trained at the WWE Performance Center in 2018 with Norman Smiley. He attended an NXT show the following night.
