The new rumor on Brock Lesnar’s opponent for WrestleMania 36 next year in Tampa is that WWE is looking at doing a bout against Cain Velasquez or professional boxer Tyson Fury.
The backstory behind a Lesnar vs. Velasquez match would be a “rubber match,” as Velasquez beat Lesnar for the UFC heavyweight title but Brock avenged the loss in Velasquez’s WWE debut match at Crown Jewel in October.
As for Fury vs. Lesnar, he has to beat Deontay Wilder when they have their highly anticipated boxing rematch early next year to become the WBC heavyweight champion. If he does that, the allure of having a boxing world champion face Lesnar is expected to be too much for McMahon to pass up. Fury of course worked for WWE at Crown Jewel in October as well (beating Braun Strowman via count-out), thus opening a working relationship between the two parties.
As we previously reported here at WrestlePages.com, Lesnar is back on hiatus from WWE and is expected to return for the build to the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
