Chad Gable was officially repackaged as Shorty G on last night’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
The transition has been in progress, with Gable using the name Shorty Gable but it’s now complete following a singles match win against Curtis Axel.
This is something WWE has planned since the summer, as they filed for the Shorty G trademark back in July. You can check out the promo he did after beating Axel embedded in the player above.
Vince McMahon is high up on Gable and views his current run as a push, even with the focus being on jokes about his height and his King of the Ring loss to Baron Corbon. As reported here on WrestlePages.com, Vince felt like the short jokes would be a way to get fans to resonate with him and support him. He considers G more than an undercard babyface.
As previously reported, Shorty G will be on Team Hogan at WWE Crown Jewel on Oct. 31. He’ll team with Roman Reigns, Rusev, Ali and Ricochet to face Team Flair, which will consist of Corbin, Captain Randy Orton, WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Lashley, and one more Superstar.
