WWE NXT Superstars are expected to receive new contracts due to the series moving to the USA Network next month, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Specifics of the new contracts are not known but it’s believed NXT talents will be paid closer to talents on RAW or SmackDown. This will be especially true in regards to talent working in or near the top of the card compared to what they are making now. Word is developmental contracts will be switched to main roster deals soon.
It’s likely WWE will raise their offers to new talent as a result of NXT’s move to cable television. The new TV deal with the USA Network is expected to make $30 million per year for one or two years, according to estimates from Guggenheim Securities analyst Curry Baker.
Neither Vince McMahon nor Kevin Dunn are expected to be involved in the NXT process even with the show moving to cable TV, according to the Observer. Triple H is expected to remain the person in charge.
Word is Vince will continue to be hands-off with NXT, especially if the ratings are good. Those close to Vince believe he’ll only want to get more involved if All Elite Wrestling beats them in viewership but he’s got a “full plate” with the forthcoming launch of the XFL.
There are still several unknowns regarding the future of NXT with many things open to change. The brand could move away from Full Sail University, utilize more Superstars from RAW and SmackDown (especially for ratings bumps), among other possible mainstream alterations.
