The WWE contract status of Randy Orton has become a topic for debate, especially since he teased a move to AEW on social media.
Jason obtained data that Orton’s WWE deal is up on Jan. 20, 2020 but Fightful.com is reporting it expires in the summer of 2020.
Orton, 39, signed a 10-year contract with WWE in 2010. The difficult thing about WWE contracts is they aren’t like that of professional sports. WWE can alter their length by adding time due to injuries and other factors without ever publicly disclosing these details. Regardless, there is a real chance Orton could end up a free agent some time in 2020, the year in which he will turn 40-years-old.
Richard Reacts: Randy Orton would be a huge get for AEW, assuming he would actually leave WWE. While we can debate how entertaining Orton is in 2019 all day long, the fact of the matter is he is one of the few big Superstars in WWE that could carry a chunk of mainstream viewers with him. Yeah, you wouldn’t want to build an entire roster around older guys like Jericho and Orton, there is a place when trying to establish new stars.
