Drew McIntyre became the WWE Champion after he beat Randy Orton during the previous episode of Monday Night RAW. He won the title just before Survivor Series and he did not have to defend it at the pay-per-view.
McIntyre was booked as the top babyface in WWE ever since he won it at WrestleMania 36. He will require credible opponents for his current run with the title and it seems WWE might already have someone in mind to be his next challenger.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is protecting Bobby Lashley. The US Champion has been booked to look strong in recent times. Apparently, it does not have to do with elevating the US Title, but to make him more of a worthwhile opponent for McIntyre.
It seems the company is planning a feud between Lashley and McIntyre in the near future. It is likely they will face off for the title at WWE TLC.
