WWE released over 100 employees on April 15th, including members of staff. During that time Jake Hager was already with AEW and was certainly troubled by what he saw in WWE.
Stephanie McMahon took to Twitter and praised WWE as the company was named the “2020 Corporation of the Year” at the PR News CSR & Nonprofit Awards. She said that it is WWE’s mission to put smiles on people’s faces and it was not possible without everyone’s hard work.
Jake Hager saw this tweet and accused the company of lying about their 37 million dollars quarterly profit just so they could “fire over 300 people” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
