Sami Zayn made his return to SmackDown on Friday night with “his” Intercontinental Championship in hand.
Zayn has been out of action since WrestleMania 36 when he opted not to compete during the pandemic. Zayn had to “forfeit” the Intercontinental Championship as a result.
AJ Styles went on to capture the title in an 8-man tournament before Jeff Hardy won it last week. Tonight, Zayn made Hardy aware of his intentions with a boot to the face.
