WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results (8/14/20) – More SummerSlam Matches Set

This week’s show will feature a sit-down interview with Alexa Bliss, a confrontation between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt, Big E vs. John Morrison and a tri-brand battle royal to determine the challenger for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results (8/14/2020)
From the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL

Big E vs. John Morrison. Prior to the match starting, the lights flickered. A female member of Retribution ont he apron. More members appear. Michael Cole and Corey Graves leave. Morrison and Big E go to war with the faction. They end up getting taken out and Retribution retreats to the back. Big E is face down in the ring and Morrison is out at ringside. The Miz comes out to check on Morrison.

Backstage, The Miz apologizes to Morrison for not being there. He had a call with Maryse. Morrison blames Big E for a tweet he sent out. King Corbin enters and says they’re under attack. Big E says now is not the time to run and hide. Sheamus comes in and mocks Big E. Sheamus taunts Shorty G. He is not afraid of Retribution but if they had any sense at all, they would be afraid.

Asuka, Tamina Snuka, Tegan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Naomi, Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke and Nikki Cross in a Tri-Brand Battle Royal. This came down to Asuka and Shayna Baszler, with Asuka ultimately eliminating here. Winner and NEW No. 1 contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Asuka

Backstage, Bayley isn’t happy about facing Asuka again in a segment with Sasha Banks. Asuka appears and starts attacking. She taunts her SummerSlam opponents.

Backstage, Mandy Rose cuts a promo on Sonya Deville. She challenges here to a Hair vs. Hair match at SummerSlam. Rose wants Deville to put her money where he mouth is and cannot wait to prove her wrong. Roses states things will get ugly.

Sheamus dismisses some security guards, as he says they can go enjoy a few pints because Retribution won’t be showing up on his watch.

Alexa Bliss walks up to a pacing Nikki Cross. Cross hugs her and apologizes for pushing her down. Cross wants to get Alexa somewhere safe away from The Fiend but Bliss states she wants to stay around and get some answers from WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman.

Sheamus vs. Shorty G. They went back and forth but ultimately Shemus hit a Brogue Kick and pinned him for the win. Winner, Sheamus

Backstage, AJ Styles is seen yelling at WWE Producer Joseph Parks.

WWE Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles comes to the ring with Joseph Parks. Styles cuts a promo, which brings out Jeff Hardy. Hardy respects AJ and his career. Jeff eventually asks for a shot at the Intercontinental Campionship. Styles responds by saying, “hell no.” Jeff attacks him.

Gran Metalik vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. Cesaro interfered and as Nakamura calls for the Kinshasha, Kalisto returned. Lince Dorado and Kaliston teamed up on Cesaro on the ramp. Kalisto hits a DDT. Metalik uses this to his advantage and hits an elbow drop to win Nakamura and get the win. Winner, Gran Metalik

Kayla Braxton is with Matt Riddle. She asks about King Corbin’s King’s ransom and Retribution. He doesn’t tink it’s cool there is a bounty on his head. Shorty G comes in and apologizes. Out of nowhere, Corbin attacks Riddle from behind.

Alexa Bliss talks about how she got to know WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman. She admits Strowman is a good man. The interviewer wants to know if it’s her relationship with Strowman is the reason why The Fiend has targeted her. She doesn’t know. She says to be in his presence is scary, terrifying but also compelling. They show footage of Braun telling The Fiend last week he doesn’t give a damn about Bliss.

Backstage, Sonya Deville addresses Mandy Rose’s challenge and says she is going to destroy her once and for all. She will look great bald.

Big E vs. John Morrison. The Miz is on commentary. As the match goes on, the lights start flickering again. Security comes out as does the rest of the locker room. The lights start flickering again. Backstage, Retribution destroys the locker room. They attack referees and start spray painting the walls. A referee runs out and tells the Superstars what is going on. The Superstars head to the back but Retribution is gone. Meanwhile in the ring, Big E catches Morrison in the Stretch Muffler submission to get the win. Winner, Big E.

Big E is leveled by Sheamus delivering the Brogue Kick. WWE Universal Champion Bruan Strowman comes out with a shaved head.

Strowman has a message for Bray Wyatt. He warned him after the Swamp Fight he would bet he is the evil son of a bitch we have ever seen. He calls The Fiend to ringside but Alexa Bliss comes out. Bliss wants a conversation. She does not believe he doesn’t give a damn about her. She yells at him and then attacks.

Strowman finally picks her up. The lights go out. Strowman tosses Bliss in the air as the lights go all the way out. The lights come back up red and Bliss is down on the mat. The Fiend is standing over her. No sign of Strowman but he appears on the big screen. He laughs as The Fiend clutches his own head and starts laughing in his mask. The screen shows The Fiend and we hear him say “Let me in!” as the show goes off the air.
