Backstage News On Attitude Issues Keeping Tessa Blanchard From WWE Contract

Tessa Blanchard remains a hot topic of discussion coming off of her historic win at last night’s Impact Wrestling Hard to Kill PPV where she was crowned World Champion.

The win was preceded by more controversy after several of her colleagues accused her on Twitter of past behavior issues involving bullying and racism.

Blanchard seemed to address the claims in a promo she cut after he win at the show. While she’s firmly established as the face of Impact, many fans remain curious of the backlash related to the racism and bullying accusations. As noted, Heavy Metal Wrestling pulled her from a scheduled booking with them due to the allegations.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed some light on the situation. He explained how her reputation has prevented her from getting work in the past.

Impact officials knew about the issues, which is believed to be a reason why she wasn’t highly sought after by other promotions. Impact EVPs Don Callis and Scott D’Amore, who are in charge of the creative for Impact, were not going to let Blanchard’s past hinder her potential in the company.

According to Meltzer, WWE didn’t sign Blanchard to a developmental deal in the past after working the Mae Young Classic because of issues involving her attitude.

Blanchard has worked for WWE a few times but has always walked away unsigned. In April 2016, Blanchard lost to Alexa Bliss in NXT. In May of the same year, she went under to Nia Jax and then in June to Carmella.

She was eliminated in the first round of the 2017 Mae Young Classic by Kairi Sane.

All and all, there is no doubting Blanchard’s talent but there are a lot of stories from colleagues that paint her in a negative light. While it has prevented her from landing a WWE deal, that could always change as her profile continues to rise as the face of Impact.
